The Xeniteas dance troupe of the Pontian Greek Society will be performing in front of hundreds of people on New Year's day in one of its biggest performances yet - below is more information:

 
Daley Center performance - April 3, 2009 Print E-mail

On Friday April 3rd, 2009, the Pontian and Cretan youth groups joined the Hellenic American Federation of Chicago "ENOSIS" in the festivities for the Greek independence day celebrations.

 

At 12:00 noon after the Greek flag was raised at the Daley Center in downtown Chicago to honor the Hellenic revolution of 1821, the two groups performed traditional dances from Crete and Pontus.

 

The Xeniteas dance troupe consisted of: Stavros Stergiou, Jenny Melahoures, Elizabeth Tountas, Kostas Bournas, Alex Perizes, Ioannis Sotirakos, Fotis Perizes, Nikki Stergiou, and Nichole Kopsta.

 

The Cretan dance troupe was represented by:  George Bariatakis, Maria Kiagias, George Kiagias, Raura Skarlatos, Elena Skarlatos, Gus Hobitakis

 

 

The dance troupe also performed on Saturday, April 4, during the Reception at Fountain Blue, in Des Plaines, IL  for the dignitaries and guests of the Greek Parade that took place on April 5, 2009 on Halsted Street in Chicago's historic Greektown neighborhood.
